FOMC closed ugly, Warsh's 2% dodge didn't land: Market read straight through Warsh's FOMC comments and closed abysmal. He said he won't let inflation cast a shadow over the 2% target, and the obvious follow-up from reporters was how exactly, no good answer came. Full FOMC review is coming, but the fade-the-rally thesis from earlier this week just picked up another data point in its favor.

Rotation chart: AI hardware money eyeing the monetization layer: Heat map making the rounds shows the rotation shifting from semis and AI hardware toward the AI-monetization layer, ERPs, CRMs, SaaS, design tools, DevOps. If that holds, hardware could keep lagging while software beneficiaries catch a bid. Early days, this is a rotation to track, not a signal to jump in yet.

Three threads still tangled under QQQ's correction: Someone laid out the mechanics behind QQQ's slide into a technical correction: leveraged Kospi positioning unwinding through the memory/semi trade, Alphabet's first-ever negative free cash flow quarter reigniting AI capex sustainability fears, and an Iran war that never fully resolved. All three threads are still live, any one flaring back up could extend the pain even if the tape looks like it's stabilizing.

AAOI thesis check: still chasing the LITE/COHR gap: Revisiting the $AAOI thesis here. Back in April the case was that a $7B market cap felt too small for a company forecasting a step-change in revenue if it could execute, with the valuation gap to $LITE and $COHR as the reward. Execution was always the risk, worth a re-read if you're holding it and shaken by the tape.

New academic study puts the SPY gamma-wall theory to the test: A pre-registered, control-matched study just dropped testing whether SPY's biggest gamma-exposure walls actually behave like special levels, call walls as resistance, put walls as support, both acting as price magnets. No verdict summarized yet, just flagging it's out there if you lean on GEX walls to time entries.

Even top AI funds are hunting for cash: One of the best-performing AI-focused funds out there, Leopold's Situational Awareness fund, is reportedly looking to tap outside investors. Sign-of-the-times read on how tight things have gotten even for the names that called this trade right, another data point that liquidity stress is real out there right now.

Short-dated Aug 3 puts closed, only Sept/Aug expiry left on the board: Closed out all the short-dated puts that were expiring Aug 3rd, what's left now is Sept and August expiry only. The logic on short-dated stuff: you need to be in and out fast, the market's clearly oversold and a counter-trend rally can rip through those positions quick. Not fighting the premarket gap up, just not holding short fuses into it.

$PENG CEO: memory backlog runs several quarters deep: $PENG's CEO said on CNBC the memory backlog stretches out several quarters already, with AI-driven revenue up 104% YoY and now roughly 75% of total company sales. Another data point stacked on top of the Samsung 2027 shortage call and the STX/SK Hynix beats, the supply story keeps getting confirmed from a different angle every day. Not a new position, just more evidence the demand curve isn't rolling over anytime soon.

VolSignals flags thin MM positioning as another bottom-is-near signal: VolSignals, the ex market maker, is flagging that dealer positioning has gone sparse again, the same setup that's preceded past reversals. Lines up with the SMH bounce off the YTD VWAP (494) overnight into 503, another data point for the bottoming case even if we're not fully there yet. Thesis stays the same: once we do bottom, expect a violent rally, penciled in loosely around October. Nothing to chase yet, just watching the pieces line up.

SMH reclaims the trendline in a premarket rip: $SMH ripped in premarket and is back above the trendline, question now is whether it holds there or keeps running today. Still very oversold underneath all this, so the bounce case stays alive. Watching to see if today's the real leg or another fade.

Quant's fresh SPX level map for the post-FOMC session: Quant model kicked out a new level stack for today: 7553 up top, then 7457, 7442-7447, 7414, 7387, 7350 and 7292 underneath. 7292-7300 is the support zone to watch, 7442-7457 is the pivot in between. After FOMC closed ugly, these are the lines that decide which way today breaks.

IGV rides MSFT's weight while software names lag: $IGV's green today mostly off $MSFT's heavy weighting in the index, but plenty of the individual software names underneath are red. Same old rotation story, for one to fly the other has to die. Not a broad software bid, just index math.

NBIS, SNDK rip on a capital raise the market's reading bullish: Violent rally across a batch of names today including $NBIS and $SNDK, tied to the market reading a recent capital raise the same bullish way we did. Order flow backs it up too, no seller showing up so far, so this should hold at least intraday. Durability past today's still the open question, but early read's encouraging.

QQQ sits on the trend line, DCA list unchanged (yes, AMKR's still on it): $QQQ is sitting right on an important trend line here. For anyone still dollar-cost-averaging into dips, the list of high-conviction names to add hasn't changed, and yes, $AMKR is still on it.

PENG reclaims 50, smid-cap rally thesis still alive: $PENG's back above the 50 level. Whether this is the actual bottom or not, the bigger point stands: dealer positioning data has a 10% index rally as the base case over the next three months, and if that plays out a 50-100% rally in beaten-down smid caps is genuinely on the table. Sentiment on these names is bad enough right now that a real rally could flip it on a dime.

$BWXT sold off with the tape, earnings next and the setup reads favorable: $BWXT got hit hard along with the broader market, no obvious company-specific news behind it. One trader opened a position at $160, a little nervous heading into earnings, but the read is earnings tend to be a favorable event for this name, valuation looks fair for a longer-term hold, and the gamma picture looks constructive into year-end.

Forced selling in NBIS and SNDK looks like it's over: Word going around is a trader named Leopold got fully liquidated today, if that's true you're already doing better than him just by still being in your seats. The silver lining: once the forced selling is done, it's arguably bullish for whatever he was holding, and that's the read behind $NBIS and $SNDK ripping this morning. Also still running the puts that have clawed back 15% of the book so far, book's still betting a violent rally shows up before this plays out.

Dollar drop plus oversold RSI stack onto the SMH VWAP tag: $SMH is oversold, RSI under 30, right as the dollar's getting hit hard today, that's a tailwind stacking on top of the YTD VWAP tag at 494 we already flagged. Not a green light to back up the truck, but the ingredients for a bounce are lining up. Watching for confirmation before adding exposure.
